Is it normal to have so many sore throats? I am hyper and my thyroid is 2x's its size.

Oh, I'd say around the 7th or 8th of October, I could say it was definitely my thyroid area that was causing pain. Couldn't move my neck, talk, laugh or anything it just hurt. That was a few days before I broke out in hives b/c of the medicine (generic tapazole)

So...then the week of the 11th, I had a sore throat, in my actual throat area. For several days, hard to swallow, etc. Went away and now it's back.

Just curious. I am on no meds except a beta blocker.

Hi - I'm hypo and don't have the throat issues that many people here seem to have but in just thinking about all the posts we get, a lot of them seem to mention having a sore throat.

Are you sure that the actual sore throats are not allergy related. I know it sounds weird but if you have post nasal drip from allergies - and for me, it used to happen at night - it can make your throat feel like there are razor blades in it. This happened to me two fall's in a row and drove me to the doctor but nose spray and allergy medication fixed it. But this year, I haven't had that problem for some reason.

If it is allergies, I don't know what you coould take since there are warnings on those types of medications for people who are hyperthyroid. Because they contain ephedrine. Ok -I seem to have strayed here!! LOL! Cathy :)

i talked to the doc- he didn't seem concerned. what else is new?

He did say nothing with sudafed or ephedrine.

I dont have allergies. I did have a cold beginning of the month. I was just concerned b/c I had a sore throat, cleared up...got it again a few days later..etc.

Oh well!

Thanks for responding!

Wouldn't it be nice to have a doctor that actually cared about you when you asked about something that was bothering you?? And actually took time to explain things? Too bad he wasn't any help. I tried looking this up but didn't find anything. I'll check again tomorrow. Hope you're feeling better. Hugs, Cathy :)
