Can anyone tell me what test are within a Thyroid Panel? So far I have found the following:

T-3 Uptake

T4

T7

TSH

Free T3

Free T4

Reverse T3

Am I missing something, or do any of there overlap?

I also had a test called thyroid peroxidase. I think I spelled it right. I dont know exactly what it is or if its a T3 or T4. Sorry. All I know is normal is up to 2.0 and I was over 70.

Hi - Carol is talking about the thyroid antibody tests - for Hashimoto's, it's anti-TPO and for Graves it's TSAb. Each measures the presence (or absence) or antithyroid antibodies for each condition, which would indicate the condition is present. They are good tests to have if your TSH comes back normal but you still have hypo symptoms. But then again, you can have either hypo or hyper thyroid conditions without having thyroid antibodies. Anyway, without being too confusing, those are the antibody tests in a normal thyroid panel.

I have listed in Mary Shomon's book, Living Well with Hypothyroidism, the following tests,

Total T4/Total Thyroxine; Free T4/Free Thyroxine; Total T3; and Free T3.

Hope this helps! Cathy :)
