Hi guys. I think I asked this before. I can't really get a difinitive answer. I suppose I will ask my Endo when I see him on the 15th and feel like a hypochondriac again.
This is about blood sugar. I searched on the net and can't really find any info on it.
I stated before my blood sugar, although not at "diabetic" status has been high in the morning. That is my fasting sugar. It's gone up to 120 now. (126 is considered diabetes, 100-125 prediabetes) I read somewhere online that anyone who has consistent blood sugar over 90 for fasting is increasing their risk for heart disease. Its been 93, 98, 100, 102, 111, 113, 118, 117 ,120...etc. After meals though I am fine. Usually below 120...typically in the 90's. I noticed too I've been getting feelings of hypo-glycemia. Only a few times though. Like a few hours after eating dinner I started to sweat, get really dizzy....almost passing out feeling. I know that feeling from my gestational diabets with my insulin shots if I didn't eat soon enough- man that sucks!!
So just wondering I guess exactly how sugar is related to thyroid. Or isn't it? I thought hyper people were more hypoglycemic than hyperglycemic. Will it clear up once my thyroid is in order?
I would love any opinion or information. I just can't find any. What I do find is vague, so maybe it doesn't matter.

Hi April:
All I know is that I've read that low blood sugar is a symptom of hypo, but I can't remember now where I read that. Have you told your endo about it?
It must really add to feeling bad!! I hope you find an answer.

ps. I've been wierded out by my blood pressure... I had a BP cuff from my pregnancy because I had preeclampsia and have been testing it every so often... it's low (for me) at night (106/55), and my pulse is usually high (90-95), although last night it was 60 and I felt horrible. I can't find anything about that, either. (I'm afraid to tell my endo about it because he already thinks I'm a crackpot!)
But maybe you and I are delving into deeper analysis to the thyriod sypmtoms... maybe what will really help is the right dose of the right thyroid med!
My blood pressure is usually pretty low, just like you- high heart rate.

I think it means that your high sugars are being caused by the hyper, and that once you're treated, they should go back to normal, unless they start getting over 140, which would be a sign that you're becoming diabetic.

Thyroid Hormone Excess
Glucose metabolism has been extensively studied in hyperthyroidism, but the observations do not form a completely coherent picture. Various reports suggest that endogenous glucose production is increased, the rate of glucose absorption from the gastrointestinal tract is increased, the rate of glucose utilization in response to insulin is normal or increased but not decreased, the rate of insulin secretion is increased, and the rate of insulin degradation is increased. The increase in glucose production seems to be the most significant factor. The result of these effects is an abnormal glucose tolerance test with a delayed break in plasma glucose in up to half of hyperthyroid patients. This is often accompanied by increased plasma insulin levels. Specific treatment of glucose intolerance is ordinarily not needed. In one series of hyperthyroid patients with abnormal glucose tolerance, a return to the euthyroid state usually resulted in improvement. However, of those with fasting plasma glucose levels greater than 140 mg/dl, most continued to exhibit fasting hyperglycemia after treatment. This was associated with a strong family history of diabetes and a diminished plasma insulin response to glucose. In such patients, hyperthyroidism probably uncovered true diabetes mellitus.
