Fluctuating TSH level

Hello, I recently posted here regarding the fact that my doc won't treat me because my level is at 4.9, and she didn't feel that was high enough. So, we did another level and this time it is 3.6.....now she REALLY isn't going to treat me. I am trying to concieve and I know that my TSH needs to be between 1-2, but she won't hear of it. I have all of the symptoms too. I don't want to switch doctors because as it is I had to wait 2 months to see this doctor. Is it normal for them to fluctuate, or not?

Hi!

Can you tell me how much time passed between the 1st TSH test and the second one? I'm just asking because I wonder if they can change from day to day. My doctor told me that they stay pretty stable, but I'm just curios as to what you (or anyone else on this board) thinks....

The amount of time between the two was about 2 weeks. I was under the impression that they are supposed to stay the same also. So,I was surprised to see that it had changed. I wonder if it matters where you are in your menstrual cycle?

Hi guys - your tsh level can fluctuate, depending on the time of day and I'm sure, other factors. I'd have to look it up for you. But, "nutcake", I would switch doctors even if you have to wait. if you have symptoms and you want to become pregnant, you really need your tsh down between 1 and 2. It can make the difference between a successful conception AND carrying the baby through to term. So it's worth waiting for, in my opinion. I now it's a hassle, and very inconvenient but, once you find the right doctor, you're all set. Cathy :)
