OK HERES THE DEAL I HAVE HYPOTHYROIDISM AND I FEEL LIKE I'M LOSING IT. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO HAS BEEN ACTIVE AND PROMPT TO DO ANYTHING BUT LATELY SINCE I HAVE HAD HYPOTHYROIDISM I'M GOING CRAZY, I AM SOOOO LAZY IT NOT FUNNY MY DOC SAYS MY 3 KIDS ARE WEARING ME DOWN HE DOES'NT THINK ITS ALL THE THYROID BUT I DO THINK THATS THE PROBLEM MY KIDS HAVE NEVER WORE ME DOWN BEFORE. I HAVE OCD WHEN IT COMES TO CLEANING MY HOUSE BUT LATELY I HAVE TO DRAG MYSELF OUT OF BED TO CLEAN MY HOUSE.I ALSO HAVE GAINED TONS OF WEIGHT IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, UGHH. MY MEDS HAVE BEEN CHANGED THREE TIMES, I'M JUST SO ANGRY THAT THIS THYROID CONDITION HAS RUINED ME, OH AND BY THE WAY I AM SO DEPRESSED I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GET OUT OF BED IN THE MORNING I THINK THIS IS ALL DUE TO THE THYROID PROBLEM. SORRY BUT THIS IS SOMETHING I NEEDED TO VENT. DOES ANYBODY ELSE FEEL THE WAY I DO OR AM I THE ONLY ONE STUCK IN THIS BOAT?

Hello!

I understand exactly where you are coming from because I have extreme hypothyrodism.Have your levels been checked lately they may need to increase your medicine. Are you seeing a gp or a endo, a endo would have more insight but do your research on the drs there are plenty of bad ones and there are good ones but they are few and far in between.

Hi and welcome! That boat you're in - it's FULL!! :) We've all either been there or are experiencing this now. So I hope it helps to know that you aren't alone! Not by any stretch of the imagination. The thing you really need to do is to find a doctor that will take you seriously and treat your condition as it is - not blame you or your children. What you are feeling are classic hypo symptoms of undertreated hypothyroidism. I was that way when I was undiagnosed but you are obviously not taking enough medication.

Do you know the results of your last blood test? What dose are you taking right now? Do you know to take your meds first thing in the morning on an empty stomach? Don't eat for about an hour afterward and don't take any other medicine, vitamins, etc when you take your meds. Take calcium and iron supplements 4 hours after taking your medication. Other things that you can do right away to help your situation is to avoid tap water if it is floridated. If you have anything other than well water, your water is floridated. Drink bottled water only. Don't drink any type of tea as this also contains natural floride. Floride blocks the receptor cells of your thyroid from taking in iodine, which is needed in small doses to make thyroid hormone. Also avoid any soy products. These have an antithyroid ingredient which, of course, is bad for you.

In the meantime, if you feel that you can continue with your present doctor and get the medication that you need to bring your TSH level down to between 1.0 and 2.0, then make every effort to talk with him to get you there. If you don't think he'll discuss this with you and do it, then start looking for another doctor right away. It has taken many of us 3 or more doctors to find a good one!! It's not at all unusual. Hang in there! It's not easy, I know, but you have to make every effort to get yourself well. This is just a hard time and many of us have been through it. You really can come out on the other side feeling like yourself again. But it may take considerable effort! We're here to help you make it through! Cathy :)
