Well I went for my 3 month check up with my Endo. and we went over the results of my Ultra Sound. It seems there is a nodule on the left side that has grown quite a bit since my last Ultra Sound which was about 6-8 months ago---so he said he felt I needed to get it checked out. So I have a biopsy scheduled for next Wed(11/17)---he said that about 80%-90% of the time it is benign and not a problem, however he said there is that 10-20% that it could be malignant and be cancerous so we need to be safe rather than sorry, especially b/c of the rapid growth. EEK----this is so not something I need to be dealing with---we just had my little brother who is 22 at teh Cardiologist for high blood preassure, my grandfather fell and broke his hip due to being over-medicated at a rest home and then had a stroke and now this for me, AHHHHHH!!!! It has me kind of scared, I mean the chances that it is cancer are slim, however I keep thinking that I am a 27 year old stay at home mom of 3 and the whole cancer thing just freaks me out!
Anyone have to have a biopsy or anything like this done before???
On a good note the blood work came back that my levels are good, so that was good to hear!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hopefully someone here who has had the biopsy - and I know that a lot of members have - will post for you about their experience. Hang in there!! I'll be praying for you. Hugs, Cathy :)
I am 27 years old and have had testing done on thyroid nodules. Originally I underwent an ultrasound and a CT scan with an iodine IV. Based on the results of those tests, my doctor recommended a specialist and a biopsy. I had a biopsy earlier this year on 2 nodules on my thyroid. Luckily the biopsy indicated they were benign. The procedure was outpatient, done in my surgeon's office. The surgeon used the same anethesia you would get at the dentist. He injected it near the biopsy site. The procedure was a little painful, but I went back to work the same day. There was some bruising for several days afterward. The doctor's staff knew I was concerned about the results, so they were kind enough to call me as soon as the results came back from the lab. I'm doing follow-up ultrasounds every 6 months to make sure the nodules aren't changing size.
Based on the information I've learned, the nodules are most likely benign. If it turns out to be malignant, the type of thyroid cancer that generally occurs in our age group is very treatable. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :)

Hi Laura,
I also have nodules and had a biopsy on them quite a few years ago.
