Yea!

For openers, she has Hashimotos! ...and has keept really current; ie. uses the new tsh scale, knows about Mary Shomon, etc... She is running a full thyroid panel (my first since this started 8 months ago) and has made referrals to investigate other explanations for the muscle twitches (sleep disorder?). She talked about how if I'm having trouble converting T4 to T3, we'd look at a different type or combo of medications (my other endos would not go there). And we also talked about autoimmune disorders--- she suspects that I have some overall autoimmune problem, but unfortunately that isn't anything obvious or treatable right now (tests for disorders like lupus are negative and no symptoms/evidence for any other).

Most of all, though, she was very clear that the goal is for me to feel better! And she listened to all my complaints including those that aren't clearly related to endocrine, and made suggestions for everything that were informed, intelligent and caring. (She was also very supportive about my use of the internet and this board! WOW)

She has temporarily increased my Levo., while we wait for the labs to come back. She's re-running the PTH and Calcium to see what's going on there.

I'll keep you posted. I'm still tired, but boy am I happier!

Dee.

Dee - I am sooooooooo happy for you!! That's just wonderful. It couldn't be any better, could it? It's always great when another one of us finds a great doctor and is on the road to feeling better. It's only a matter of time now! At least now you know that no matter what you have to deal with, you have a knowledgeable and caring doctor caring for you - someone you can TRUST!!! I'm so happy for you. Big hugs, Cathy :)

Thanks Cathy and Laura!

Honestly--- and I really mean this sincerely--- if it weren't for you and all my friends here on the board: your support, your "reality checks," I would never have made it through the last few months...

If (when) I do get to "well," y'all will have a big, big part in it!

Thanks!

Hi:

I'm in Northern California... it's the right time zone, but probably too far. I'm sure you can find someone locally, though... try http://thyroid.about.com under "need Dr. Right? Find thyroid docs now." That's acutally where I find mine... and I got lucky that she is part of Kaiser (my HMO).

I'm going to read your other post...
Good luck,
Dee.
