Since being diagnosed 2 months ago with Hypo (still to determine if it's Postpartum or not, had twins 7 months ago) with TSH levels of 63.5 (yes, that is correct) with the help of Levoxyl daily my level came down to 9. My Doctor wants to see it around 2 as she says that is when most people feel better, so where is the part that I was feeling bad to begin with? I had never felt better in my life before I was diagnosed. I had no symptoms at all but I guess according to them I should not have even been functioning but oh well. It is what it is. She increased my Levoxyl to from .100 to .125 so we shall see what that does. But here is my question. Is anyone else on Levoxyl and absolutely starving all day long? I swear I can't stop eating or I get the shakes and my muscles seem to start weakening. I'm Hypoglycemic too, have been since I stopped being anorexic in High School. But I can not stop eating. I haven't gained a pound, in fact I have lost weight (actually I lost more than 50 lbs of baby weight, two weeks after giving birth, I was below my pre-pregnancy weight and am still losing weight). But I am constantly hungry! This all seemed to start after I got on medication. I know my doctor said that Levoxyl can contribute to weight loss but does it increase your appetite as a side effect? Just curious if anyone else has had this effect on Levoxyl.

Hi - I'm glad you have such a great doctor. I love to hear about good doctors!! The thing about thyroid medication is that it increases your metabolism, since that's one of the things that your thyroid regulates. When your metabolism increases, it means that your burning calories faster and better. So eat and enjoy!!! :) But pay attention to your body and those hunger cues. Eventually they will stop so you'll need to stop eating as much in response. Does that make sense? Cathy :)
