and thats perfectly normal. So says the doctor. Urgh!
Although... I'm not as discouraged as I thought I'd be. We really had a good chat. I like my doctor. He at least is starting to actually LISTEN.
Today we went over the tests. (I had to ASK for the actual #'s). My TSH is 2.2 (last time tested it was 3.8), and my ferritin (iron) is 28 (which apparently is good, anything over 10). At one point I was anemic and on iron injections, so we had to rule that out and obviously did.
We talked about the Fibro. and I asked him what he thought of this new theory linking Fibro to Hypo. Although he did not blow it off completely he did not deny that its quite possible. His response was, that many naturapaths are claiming links but on nothing more that "psycological" more than "physical" findings. And that the medical practice does not "call for treatment" of thyroid at a level of 2.2.... I told him that I understood exactly what he was saying but asked him... "what if 2.2 is not a good level for ME"... after all people with FIBRO are much more sensitive to eveything... Fibro has to do totally with the autonomic nervous system.. its exasperates pain/feeling tenfold.. why would it be different when it comes to sensitivity to thyroid dysfunction. He agreed that maybe 2.2 is NOT a good level for me. We also agreed that ALL my symptoms point to HYPO.
His recommendation.. that I see a rhuematoligist here in my home town.. he will refer me, and also we agreed that I should further investigate the thyroid/FIBRO link with my OBGYN who has crossed over to natural medicine after a 30 year conventional medical practice. I've been a patient of this gyn for 14 years now, and best of all he's listed on the Good Doctors list... Dr Alvin Pettle.
So, guys.. tell me what you think...

Hi Marley,
I like how you kept pushing for answers and got them.
No calley I didnt have them written down, but I've been so pre occupied with the research I've been doing on this, that I was really ready for this appointment. I believe that helped immensely.
I am not stopping till I get some answers. Everything I've read and everyhting I've been told over the last 12 months tells me I'm hypo. I am NOT giving up.
Cathy, I dont see an endo.. at least not yet. Dr. Pettle I think will be big help in piecing together this puzzle. I tried calling his office again today and just cant get through. He is THAT good, which makes him unbelievably busy. They know me well though, from way back.. I've had all three of my children and my one miscarriage under his care. So he KNOWS me. Which is kind of half the battle... at least I know that when I'm talking to him, he's not thinking "this lady is a nut.. a hypochondriac (sp?)" you know what I mean. Anyhow, this is only one angle I've got going right now.
Then there is this new rhuematologist my family doc is sending me to. That could be a good or bad thing. You never know whats gonna come out of "new" visit until its over.
My sister mentioned to me that there is a HYPO clinic at our local hospital tomorrow, especially for people who believe they are hypo but cannot get diagnosed. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? I was blown away when she told me that tonight.. she said she heard it on the radio today. The hospital info is closed tonight.. but I'll be on the phone bright and early tomorrow to see if I can get the specifics.
So, having said all that... thanks for your support ladies, it really means alot. I'll keep you all posted.
Love Marley
