What are normal anitbodies levels?

Hi all,

I just had bloodwork done last Wednesday and will be getting the results tomorrow. I had my thyroid anitbodies tested to see if they are elevated. My TSH level was 3.4 and since hypothyroidism runs in the family (mother and maternal grandmother) I wanted to get the full workup done to see if I may have Hashimoto's.

My question is, what are the numbers I should be looking for? I haven't been able to find anything on "normal" anitbodies levels on the web. If anyones knows what that range is could you please let me know?

Thanks!
Julie

Hi Julie - sorry I somehow missed your post. Did you get your results back yet? I've had a hard time finding that range myself. But your results should include your own lab's range and that will tell you where you fall. I had a good link on it once but can't find it right now. I'll try to get that for you tomorrow. And sorry again that I didn't see this!! Cathy :)

hi julie,

I am pretty new to this board but being in the medical field it is in my nature to do a lot of research. I also could not find any acutal "normals" but this is what my results were from Quest Labs.

Thyroid peroxidase Normal 0.0-2.0 IU/ml Mine was greater than 70 with the TSH only being 3.30.

The other one was Thyroglobulin, AB normal under 2.0 which is what mine was.
So based on that number my doc. told me I had Hashimoto's

Hope this helped a little.
