Hi Chris, and welcome to the board!

Wow! Your story is definitely a bit terrifying! But I'm glad it has a sort of happy ending!

I was diagnosed hypothyroid about a year ago...and basically are in the same boat you are now! If you've read any of the other posts (or perhaps some of the older ones) you might notice that many of us here who are hypo have a VERY hard time losing weight. It's just one of those things. They say that once your thyroid hormone levels are where they should be, that it becomes easier, but I personally think it's still harder to lose than someone who doesn't have thyroid "issues".

Do you have any of the other hypothyroid symptoms? You have come to one of the most informative and supportive boards. The people here are very knowledgeable and we often do what we can to help each other out when things get frustrating!

I hope you'll stick around and keep us posted on how you are doing...and please jump in when there's a question that you know the answer to! We're always looking for new sources of information! LOL!

Thanks for sharing your story!

Hi and welcome - thanks for sharing your story with us! Thanks goodness your doctors caught your condition in time!! I'm sure you're worried about gaining that weight but for right now, it would be good for you to focus on getting back to normal and feeling good. Once you get your medication where it's supposed to be, you'll lose that weight. Try to eat healthy and get some regular exericise if you don't already. thanks so much for sharing! Cathy :)
