Hi everyone!!

I was hyperthyroid until about 3 yrs ago when I had the radio active iodine treatment.  Took a while to get my numbers straight, but now I am currently on synthroid and cytomel.

According to my doctor I am now stable, however I do have some questions that maybe you guys can help me out with.

Hair loss!!! What to do? What can I do to promote healthy hair growth????

Weight loss??? Everything I read about thyroid conditions is structured towards making your thyroid work... well, I don't HAVE one!!!! What can I do to increase my metabolism?

Honestly, I am more concerned with the hair loss - at 33 I don't want to worry about going bald anytime soon....

Some people have a HUGE problem switching from brand name to generic. That could be yours. Did these symptoms start before the switch??

Hi - I think April is onto something about the generic synthroid. it isn't really a good idea to take the generics. They don't have the same quality pill for pill and prescription to prescription as the name brands. Perhaps you can call your doctor and switch back. Did you have this problem before the switch? The other thing is that hair loss is a symptom of being undermedicated - or undiagnosed - so it would be a good idea to check your TSH level and see where you're at. You can always call your doctor and ask for your actual results - the numbers of your last blood test. You should have a TSH reading between 1.0 and 2.0 to have thebest shot of having the least symptoms! That wuld improve your hair loss, help with weight loss and any other symptoms you might be feeling. I hope this helps! Post back when you get your results and we'll see if we can help. Cathy :)
