My mom was just diagnosed thru b/w of having her parathyroids producing too much calcium.  She's going in for surgery next Wed. to have them checked & removed - how many of the 4 depending on what they see when they go in.  I did do research online - just wondering if anyone here had this or knew of someone who did - how the surgery went & recovery afterwards.

Thanx in advance for any input!

Yes, my mom had this. It took them literally years and years before they did something about it GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Sorry, just had to get that out of the way LOL! My Mom had surgery last year to remove one of the parathyroids. Her recovery went really well (she was 72 at the time) and her labs have all been really great since then.

Prior to the surgery my mom was getting to the point that she could barely walk. Her muscles were really affected - she couldn't pull her leg up to get into a higher vehicle, etc. All that is gone now and she's feeling so much better.

Best of luck to your mom with her surgery!!! Hopefully her recovery will be as good as my Mom's!!
