of months ago and then probably a couple of years ago. Anyway, here's my brief story. I had postpartum thyroiditis following the birth of my daughter almost 4 years ago. I was first diagnosed about 8 months after her birth when my TSH was 28.2. The following month it fell to 12 and continued to fall until it hit in the normal range (probably about a year total). Because it had improved so dramatically from the first test to the second, I chose to wait and see what happened without medication.

I now have a 6 month old son and began getting my TSH checked both during my PG and afterwards. DUring it was fine - in May my TSH was 1.6. My first postpartum check was in September '04 and my TSH was zero. In october it was repeated, also zero. I was referred to an endo and he recommended a full panel in mid to late November. I finally got that done in early December (hey, it was the holidays!) and my TSH is now 8.8. T3 went from 1.59 to .89 and T4 went from 1.5 to .7 ( I don't have the normal ranges of those but the doctor said I was either on the high or low ends of normal now). This time I opted for treatment even though I understand I may become normal in some period of time. The doctor put me on 50mcg of Synthroid for now.

I'm still attempting to BF my son and as was the case after DD's birth, my milk supply has really gone down. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm wondering if the medication will help bring it back (or halt the decrease anyway).

Just wanted to introduce myself as I'll probably spend more time here!!
