Morning all,
Well, I called my pharmacist who says a week was sufficient to get the Levoxyl out of my system, for an accurate re-blood test to test TSH, T3, T4, and antibodies. But I took it a step further and called the drug manufacturer.
Listen to this. It will take as much as 50-70 days for a blood test to come back showing NO THYROID MEDICATION at all if I was HYPOthyroid. 21-28 days if I was HYPERthyroid and 6-7 days on just 1 single dose of thyroid medication period.
So, according to the manufacturer of this drug I have to wait 50 more days (It's already been 21 days with no meds) to re-test for thyroid readings if I want an accurate one NOT showing any past thyroid medication in my system at all!
Good grief! I don't know if I can do that. But I guess I don't really have a choice.
Evidently it is this way with most thyroid meds out there so I just thought I would let you all know. I did edit this better tonight for more clearer content as when I got the news I just kinda rambled this out as I was clearly upset about it. I have been waiting all day for my FNP to call me and advise me what to do as I left all this info on her voice mail and no word as of yet. It's now 6:28 pm.

Well, HECK YA I want back on the medication. I am still waiting for her to return my call. Thursday at 2:30 now. I don't see her reasoning that my thyroid will have fixed itself so that I shouldn't need the meds anymore, just because it made me go hyperthyroid. And I don't wanna re-test and give her a false reading that could lead her to believe what she is assuming is true. SO I guess I will wait out the other 49 days now. And start drinking lots and lots of caffinated soda. DOn't know what else to do.

Hi...me again,
Well the FNP called me today, finally. She said for me to wait out another week or so but she suspects that my thyroid will back on it's way up and we will end up keeping me on the same dose or higher. She talked about my case to a collegue (sp) of hers. I suspect one of the other 3 FNP's in the office. Perhaps she consulted the doctor himself. I don't know. But I do know that once she was talking of taking me off them completly and now she plans to keep me on them once I finally get the blood test done again. She doesn't want me off the drug longer than 5 weeks total. So go figure.
Now my biggest challenge is.....do I go ahead and get that 8 week old puppy I found??!! :-)
Do I have the energy to raise it while not on the meds? Or even when I get back on them. What to do, what to do. I have to decided with in the next hour. I have been pondering this all day and haven't a clue what to do. What a nice change of worries, huh?! Wondering if I am gonna get a puppy or not. :-)
