Back from surgery!

Hey everyone! I am back from surgery!  Everything was pretty uneventful. I had to check in at 11, they told me the surgeon was running AHEAD of time so they could take me right away.   They got me up to the "operating holding room".  They anethesiologist came in asked a few questions doped me up, started rolling me to the OR and I was out before I got there. Woke up  a few hrs later pain free, but a little sick.  Which they gave me meds for right away, didn't want me vomiting!!

I feel ok today.  My neck is numb and it pulls a little which is so weird.  Can't drive for 3-5 days b/c I can't really turn my head.  No stitches, just tape whcih he said I can peel off in 10 days.   It hurts to swallow and it's a bit rough trying to sleep comfortably.  I feel like I walk around like Ozzy.

They gave me a prescription for thyroid meds.  I dont even know which kind. I haven't even checked, don't care at this point.  maybe in a day or 2 I will look!

Hi April - I think it's so encouraging that you can be on the board so soon after surgery. It sounds like everything went well, thank goodness! Are you able to take some time to rest and recover? Cathy :)

BTW: We have a big snow storm coming so maybe you do too. That will make you happy! :)

Glad it went well!
Hope you're feeling, well, my mother-in-law from England would say, "tickety-boo," (all better).

Hi champain2007,

What was the reason for having your thyroid removed?

hi calley,my thyroid was removed because I was diagnosed with graves disease and I didn't want the radioactive iodine, its been 3 weeks and I feel better than I have in 3 months since I discovered the goiter in my throat,3 weeks before surgery I was admitted into the hospital with a rapid heart rate which is common with hyperthyroid, mine was beating at 212 times per minute ,pretty scary but now that my thyroid is gone I feel good ,I think my doctors got the dosage of my levoxyl right on the money.
