Hello, I have an upcoming wedding in 32 days and I am a bride's maid. Well, over the holidays, I indulged a little bit and ended up gaining 5 lbs, so now my dress is tight! I need to take off the extra 5 lbs in time for the wedding so I can fit into the dress normally! I'm 24 years old, 5'3, and 115 lbs right now. I used to be 110 lbs, and that has always been my normal weight for years. So please don't say it's too small, I have a petite frame and come from a petite family. My 22 year old sister is only 98 lbs! So anyway, I usually eat fairly healthy and I exercise 3-5 times per week for an hour at the gym. I've done so for years. Last month, I cut my calories down to about 800-1000 per day. I did this for about 3 weeks, and then I read that this does nothing but slow your metabolism down and only causes you to store more fat. No wonder I haven't lost any weight. I did the first week, but then stopped and somehow ended up gaining the little weight I lost (only about 1-2 lbs) so now I'm stuck at 115 lbs, with my dress being too tight. I really just want to get back down to my normal weight of 110. Since I have an underactive thyroid (and am on meds for it) I can only eat about 1400-1500 calories to maintain my weight. I have lost weight on 1100-1200 calories before, so I'm thinking about upping my calories to 1100-1200 again and keep on exercising about 5 days per week. Is it safe to up my calories to this amount after maintaining 800-1000 calories for 3 weeks now, or if I do this, will I gain weight? Also, my normal eating habits is about 50% carbs, 35% protein, and 15% fat. I'm thinking about cutting my carbs down and increasing my protien intake, I hear that a lot of people lose weight quickly doing this. But, after I lose the 5 lbs, I want to be able to increase my carbs back to 50% without gaining weight. Is this possible? What should I do to lose the 5 lbs? Thank you!
