1 yr since diagnosis, have my life back!

Hi all,

I was here about a year ago, right after I figured out I was hypothyroid. You guys were great in inspiring me to find the right doctor. After a year on synthroid, I feel great! Lot's of energy again, clear headed, and, saints be praised, warm! I'm also back in the gym regularly, which is super important for me, as a good work out is always how I've managed stress. Had given it up because I felt so awful, but now I have the energy and am weight lifting regularly with my teenage son. I'm still not in top physical form, but definitely on the way back. The only thing I'd note is that I find I need regular, consistent sleep, and I used to be able to gogogogogo with little sleep (hmmm...maybe that is what did my thyroid in in the first place). But I suspose that sleep is good for me in any case. Oh, and all my hair is back (lots of B vitamins and evening primrose oil, now I'm complaining about having too much :) )

If you're newly diagnosed, be patient. It was six months for me before I felt like my energy was really coming back, 9 months was another big improvement milestone. And I had to MAKE myself work out again for a while, just kept plugging away. Just hang in there, you will feel better.

Thanks all for your great support last year. Wishing all of you the best!

HI SHARON!!

I WAS JUST REPLYING TO SOME OF THE "POSTS" THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE HAVE GIVEN ME (SEE "FIRST TSH TOO LOW, NOW TSH IS TOO HIGH?") AND SAW YOUR MESSAGE POSTED WHEN I WAS DONE!! HMMM....THINK SOMEBODY "UP THERE" KNEW I NEEDED TO SEE SOMETHING ENCOURAGING TONIGHT!! YOUR MESSAGE CERTAINLY IS! THIS HAS BEEN THE LONGEST MONTH SO FAR. I WAS ESPECIALLY HAPPY TO HEAR YOU HAVE YOUR ENERGY BACK, AT 49 I FEEL 90. ALSO, ALTHOUGH PETTY SOUNDING I HAVE BEEN "SICK" AND SO DEPRESSED OVER MY HAIR LOSS, I LOVED MY HAIR AND HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO ALWAYS CONTINUE TO WEAR IT LONG OR SHOULDER LENGTH, AS IT WAS SO HEALTHY AND PRETTY. NOW PRACTICALLY OVERNIGHT, IT'S A DRY, BRITTLE, THIN MESS!! I DO TAKE B-VITAMINS, AND JUST WENT & GOT EVENING PRIMROSE OIL YESTERDAY.
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU AND JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR TAKING TIME TO REMEMBER TO POST FOR THOSE OF US JUST STARTING ON THIS SCARY, LONG JOURNEY!! TAKE CARE & GOD BLESS!!

Hi,

I was so glad to read your message. I have hypothyroidism and started to take the medication in September, but still feel tired. However, the doctor did increase the my dosage in December so I am hoping this will help.

I was getting frustated that it has been a few months since starting the medication and have not seen a huge improvement. Your message has been an inspiration to me.
