Love/HATE relationship with my endo.

I can't say I love him really. But I'd sure like to hate him if it weren't so extreme.
He finally called me back with my blood test results, he said they are inconclusive. I am like huh? Inconclusive? I said, well, what are the numbers? He said, they are low normal but wouldn't even tell me!!!! I know it's my "right" to know, but I wasn't about to argue over it. It was ridiculous. He said he thinks my pituitary has not caught up since surgery and that I am still slightly hyper, which honestly I feel pretty good. Besides headaches here and there...a little sluggish sometimes, but thats it. I sleep like a rock now.
Do you think it's true that the Pituitary hasn't caught up or should I be looking into other things? Its funny- before the blood tests he said "that should be enough time to see how you are feeling". Now it's inconclusive. argh.

How annoying!
I'd be really upset if I didn't get my numbers back. Is there anyone in his office that you could phone and just, in a breezy way, say "oh, and I need you to send me a printout of my labs..." ? If my doctor (the "old" endo) wouldn't give me the numbers, I would call the nurse and be really casual about it and try to get a printout or get the numbers over the phone (which worked like a charm).
I'd follow up on that, because you're feeling good now (which is great), but would he give you the numbers if you weren't (feeling well)? This would be a lot more frustrating even if you were trying to find answers to symptoms, which may come up in the future, you know... ?
Good luck!
Dee.
Hi April - I really don't like that either, when a doctor doesn't follow up in the way he or she said they would. Or when they say one thing and you're relying on that and then they suddenly change!! I was always disappointed that way by my old endo.
What does it mean that your pituitary might not have caught up yet after the surgery? That it isn't producing enough TSH or is it producing too much? If you are on the low end of normal, you could be in the 3.0 range or perhaps the 5.0 range. Why not just call back on Monday and ask for the actual number? Just say that you had a conversation with the doctor, he said you were on the low end of normal and you're just wondering what the actual number is. Many doctors don't think to tel you the actual numbers because they don't think you'll know what they mean!!! I'm sure that's why they don't say. I don't think you need to worry about any other things at this point. It's so soon after the surgery. It takes at least 4 weeks for the thyroid medication to work so ... you still have plenty of time to return to normal.
At least you're feeling good - except for the occasional headache!! That's good news. You're really recovering well. Hugs, Cathy :)
Hi Cathy,
Won't be until my next visit in March...He wants to see what my 2nd blood tests are like first.
