pregnant and have hyperthyroid...scared

Hello all,
I am new to this message board and would really appreciate anyone's similar experience or input in this matter. I just had my daughter last year and was diagnosed in late Oct. 2004 with hyperthyroidism a few months after her birth. After all the tests and a long thought process I choose RAI (radioactive iodine)in December as treatment. I was then put on a beta blocker as well as PTU to help my symptoms. The medications have been good and I am definitely feeling better.

Based on conversations with my doctor he recommended not getting pregnant while being treated until things are stablilized with my thyroid (and in likelihood I will become "hypo" in the future). My husband and I had no plans on having another baby anytime soon but guess what....I just took a pregnancy test and it's positive. I am happy in one way but my WORRY is more of a present emotion than anything else. We definitely didn't plan this and I am concerned about the health risks for the baby. Also, could I be at risk?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Many thanks!
