Hi:
Sorry you're sick, Cathy. Congrats on the new job, Dazed!
I'm feeling crummy and fed up. It is the anniversary of my appendicitis, so I know I'm coming up on a year with my diagnosis. I've gained 20 pounds this year, and now have very thinned hair. I feel 10 years older than I did before I went into the hospital last year. When I first posted on this board my biggest concern was getting better to have another baby, and if I'd had even the smallest improvement over the last several months, I might still be planning that, but my husband and I have pretty much given that idea up completely.
I've been on my new dose (Levoxyl, .150) for 2 weeks, so either I'll start feeling better soon, or it's going to be a long 4 more weeks before labs....
Hope everyone else is doing well,
Dee.
Thanks for the congrats, dee!
Gosh, I hope you start feeling better soon! Sometimes those meds take awhile to really kick in, you know...
Take care, okay?

You're not being "nosy"...
I have degenerative disc disease in my back. Over the past several years I've had problems with

Wow - that's unbelievable!! I'm glad it went well for you. You must have been so worried about it. Try to pay attention to what might be symptoms from now on. It's possible that this was building for quite some time without you being aware of it.
I have disc problems, too and I'm constantly aware of it. Even if I don't feel any pain, I still "feel" the condition. Be careful when you're working out. You can aggravate these things so easily by overdoing it, using too much weight, or using bad form. Can you guess how I know this?? LOL!
Are you going for physical therapy?? Hugs, Cathy :)
You're right, the surgery really had me frightened because you hear so many horror stories about back surgeries. The doc told me a bit about the procedure, and I did some searching on the internet. I really didn't want those fusion things, you know? They weren't going to do that so I felt a little better about it. There was still nervousness though...more so for this situation than for when I had the carpal tunnel surgery last year...and the anesthesiologist was a JERK! LOL! He got me so worried before the surgery that I was crying and making out wills. Not exactly what I needed to have on my mind 30 minutes before surgery. I did tell someone about it though! I am so tired of how docs treat people! I learned that from everyone here! LOL!
So far no physical therapy. Until I see the doc next month I'm only supposed to walk as much as possible, try not to sit too long, and don't lift anything over 10 pounds. I guess we'll see how I'm doing in 4 weeks, then go from there. The numbness is finally going away, but my foot is still very weak. I'm hoping it goes away too, or that there is physical therapy I can do to regain the strength.

My daughter had surgery on a torn ligament in her wrist last yeat and the anesthesiologist was so awful, he had her crying in minutes. I was furious. I felt like a mother bear defending her baby!! As soon as we got home, I called the hospital and filed a formal complaint against him. What a jerk!!
I hope you can go for physical therapy because I think it's important to know how to work it so that you gain your strength back. I seriously sprained my ankle last year and also had a serious shoulder issue this past September and in both cases, my chiro was able to give me stretch and strengthening exercises to do to regain full use of both. We are just so fragile, aren't we??? For all out "bluster", we aren't all that strong after all. :) Cathy
