Wilson's Thyroid ? (LONG post)

Has anyone heard of Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome? I've been doing some research on the internet. My TSH level is 2.15, my T4 Free 1.1 and my temperature runs from 95 to 96.7 (I had my thyroid tested four times last year and this last one it did go up some but they said not to where they can do anything for it - I don't have my results from the other tests though to know by how much). I have 16 of the symptoms - and on this website (wilsonssyndrome.com), it also mentioned dry, scaling elbows which I have big time. I went to our endocronologist - the only one we have - who said I was depressed. (I'm not - been there and know I'm not there again). I can't lose weight for nothing despite eating healthy and exercising & strength training (I also tried Weight Watchers, Herbalife, eating healthy, - I did lose 10 pounds when I staggered my calories but ended up gaining it all back doing what I was doing to lose it). I went to a pharmacist who does compounding medications (recommended by my SIL who does the same thing) - he said he could not figure out why they did not do further testing on me and truely believes it's my thyroid. He put me on some drops but I stopped them after just a short time as I had to have a colonscopy in October and then a hysterectomy in December. I don't know if I should go back on the drops and give them another chance, try out the ThyroCare (maybe with the Healthy Foundation)at www.wilsonssyndrome.com/WhichWTSmedicinesToUse.htm or trying this at www.wellnessresources.com/protocols/leptin.htm
My Gynocologist, Family Medicine Dr., my internal medicine doctor and then endocronologist won't address the problem - either they think it's in my head or the one doctor (endo) that could do something says I'm depressed so as far as the medical community where I live, I'm stuck. I live in North Dakota so it's not like I have a lot to choose from either.
Has anyone had any luck with herbal stuff? Has anyone heard of this Wilson's Syndrome (it fits me to a tea but my husband figures it a hoax).
I'm on progestrone cream and was a few months before my surgery and it has helped A LOT! And my doctor said it was a waste of money. But since I don't have much faith in my doctor's at this point, I'm wondering if it's at least worth trying the natural stuff out to see if it can help. I'm not rich though so I don't want to waste my money either.
Would appreciate any help or ideas! Thanks (sorry so long!) Rachelle

Hi Rachel - I don't really know what to think about Wilson's syndrome. I've heard some criticism of it but then again, it also sounds a lot like subclinical hypothyroidism, which is what you have when your tsh is in the "normal" range and you have all the symptoms but you can't be diagnosed as hypothyroid. This is a really difficult spot to be in. You can try to find a doctor that will diagnose and treat you, perhaps an osteo or naturopath. I know someone who is taking the drops you're talking about. She is getting them from a compounding pharmacist also. Her husband is a chiropractor and he is monitoring her. She is feeling a little better taking them. But nothing is really going to do it until she gets on some thyroid medication. So, perhaps you can go back to taking the drops. You might also consider Thyroid Helper. Here's the thread that was posted from someone recommending it: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-bhhypothyroi&msg=8873.1
Another thing to do is stay on top of being tested. Eventually your tsh might go up enough to where even the dumbest doc will treat you!! LOL! Soryy - i couldn't resist. LOL! Seriously, once it starts getting in the range where you're above 3.0, you're diagnosable and treatable by most standards, although you may have to help it along. here's an article on the new range: http://thyroid.about.com/cs/testsforthyroid/a/labs2003.htm
I hope all this helps. Maybe you'll hear from someone who has some first hand experince with Wilson's. Cathy :)
