Hi everyone,
I posted here a few months ago, at the time I had just been told I needed Radio active iodine therapy because my thyroid was very over-active. I've since had the therapy and everything went ok. Nothing seemed to change for the first week or so but after that my energy started to return to normal and I could get through a whole day without feeling like I needed to sleep. I didn't even need to take the beta blockers I was prescribed to cope with all the symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
Lately though, things have changed again. I felt great for a couple of weeks but now I'm starting to feel tired all the time again and I find it really hard to get up in the morning. I started taking the beta blockers again and they make me feel a bit better but I saw the doctor this morning and he says I shouldn't need them anymore.
So, I have to stop taking these pills by the end of this week and I'm worried I'm just going to feel terrible again. It's awful feeling so tired all the time because I just don't have any life in me. I like going to see my friends and going out but I'ts no fun if you don't have the energy to join in and be sociable.
The doctor gave me a prescription for thyroxine today and he'll give me a ring when he's seen the results of my blood tests to tell me if I should start taking it. Has anyone gone through this before? There seems to be a lot more people who start off hypo rather than go from hyper to hypo, but any advice you can give me would be so helpful because I'm really not sure what to expect when I start thyroxine.
Thanks for your help

Its hard to say where you are at.
Thanks for your reply. I was unaware that there were different brands of thyroid medication, I don't think I have a say in what I take though. Can I ask the doctor for a different one? Will it be different because I'm in England?

I am not sure of the difference. I would just ask your doc, it won't hurt.
