My computer has been down a few days, and I couldn't wait to get back here to see what you all are up to!! This board is such a Godsend to me, and to all of us with this health issue, I'm so grateful it's here.
I am almost at 3 weeks on Levoxyl now, and have had 3-5 days where I actually started to think I might be feeling better!! I had that respiratory thing I wrote in about Feb.l that lasted 3 1/2 weeks, and I don't remember ever being quite that down & sick with something. Thanks for all the replies regarding larangitis, sore throats, etc... That's where it started & I had no voice for almost 2 1/2 weeks, constant coughing, migraines, sinus infection. I was even pro-active & saw my family doc early & got on an antibiodic for the sinus infection, but it didn't help. I was "well" about 3-4 days & got the stomach flu which I haven't had in probably 10-15 years. Of course, this had to be on our way out of town to my oldest granddaughter's first Dance Team Competition, but thankfully I was better next day to attend!! Then, I had about 2-4 more days sort of feeling good and now I have the whole respiratory thing back, with larangitis and ALL! Saw family doc this morning, gave me a heavier antibiodic, and she said my immune system is just picking up everything....DA :)LOL
This is a little scary, as I've always been a person who could just keep going 24-7 with anything I had, but NOT NOW! I'm still working at our company most every day but when I'm sick with a cold or whatever, I really have NO energy at all. Some of your replies said the same thing, so this must be pretty common with HYPO. Just hard to get used to, as you all know already!!
I also told the Doc this morning & showed her that these GLANDS in my neck are NOT going down at all, they have been swollen up for like 3 months now, but she didn't really say anything. I think she figures the ENDO can deal with that now....
She is the one that ran the ultrasound in November that showed multinodular disease possible, but that was before I was diagnosed for sure or seeing an ENDO. Anyone else have constant swollen glands and neck? I suppose it could be mostly from how sick I've been with all this stuff, since that's where it seems to attack-my throat or thyroid?? Does anyone else here on Levoxyl have horrible migraines or headaches? I am a HUGE migraine sufferer (since age 21) but now it's hard to decide if I'm having more because of the Levoxyl or if it's the hypothryoidism, the sinus infections (but it feels way different than those have ever been) or something else? My ENDO warned me that this could be a side effect of Levoxyl and knew I really suffer with these, but still thought this was the best med for me and wanted me to give a good "chance". I am really trying but the first 10 days I took it I woke up between 5:00 am and 6:00 am with terrible migraines 8 of the days!! This last week I have had 4 out of 6 days, all of these required me taking my Zomig, which I don't take very often because I get so nauseated from it, and zoned out the rest of the day. Anybody else....?
I hope you all are having a good week and that everyone who is having tests, biopsies(hopewehug) and anything else done right now will have GOOD results!! Prayers & Hugs to all of you!! Becky

Hi Becky - It's so good to hear from you! Boy, you've really been through it, haven't you?? I have never read about any side effects whatsoever with thyroid medication so I'm surprised to hear that headaches could be a side effect. All you are doing with Levoxyl or any other meds is replacing the thyroid hormone that your body would normally make. They don't really contain anything else, I guess some color and a few fillers. So I don't know about the headaches. If you've alway suffered from migraines, I would thing that getting your TSH level down might actually help that. I sure hope it does!!
The swollen glands, are you sure it isn't your thyroid that's swollen? If not, I know I've seen other posters talking about they're glands being swollen quite a bit and also having increased thyroid symptoms when they are sick. I've never personally experienced that but then again, I don't get sick that often anymore. I think you need to give yourself time to get better with all the colds etc, then you'll also have more time on the medication so that should really start to kick in and help relieve some of the hypo symptoms. Just think, in a few weeks time, you could be a new woman!! LOL!
It's funny that you say that you're used to going 24/7. So was I. And now I'm back to that. But so many of us are that type of person, always go, go, go. I wonder if that has anything to do with becoming hypo later on. That's a real stretch, I know, but still. I guess if most doctors can't even figure out how much medication to give us so we feel better, they're not going to worry too much about what we were like before we became hypo! :)
I hope that you'll just hang in there because I'm sure you'll feel better soon!!! Hugs, Cathy :)
