Well I had to back in to the docs today for my ekg. The doc didn't like the way my ekg turned up and wanted to put me on meds. Well I have a really mild case of asthma so no meds. So she wanted me on a heart monitor for 24 hours. how fun. So I have that on right now. Now to the good news the nodules are benign whoohoo! I was excited to hear that. even though there is such a low chance of it being cancer I was still scared. So I have one more test to do. It is the thyroid uptake scan. Has anyone ever had that done? Is it like an ultra sound? Just curious and all. So on the 14th i'll go back to the docs to make a game plan! Thanks for all your help and kind words. I hope ya'll doing good.
Thanks
Kim

I've had the uptake scan. I swallowed liquid form of RAI.
I had the uptake scan done back in January. I swallowed 2 capsules of RAI in the morning and then had to go back to the office about 6 hours later. The tech had me lay on a skinny bed/bench, she made sure I was comfortable. Then she moved the bed backwards to a big camera like object. I had to lay there for what seemed like a long time. She would scan my tyroid, I guess like taking pictures. At the end, she scanned my knee. I think the entire appointment of the actual scanning took about 30-45 minutes. I really can't remember. I had to go back the next day, 24 hours after taking the capsules to be scanned again, which only took about 10 minutes.
It is really painless. Oh, I think after the first hour or so after taking the capsules, I wasn't supposed to drink anything but water and needed to watch what I ate. After that, it was anything goes for food and drink.
Good Luck! It was not bad at all!
