Newly pregnant and hypo

I am TTC and got a very faint positive this afternoon after a week of negatives.  I am hypo.  Anyway I know I read an article on here somehwere about increasing thyroid medications right away.  I had mentioned it to the NP when I had my IUD removed and she kind of shrugged it off.  I plan to call the DR tomorrow if still positive, but I am wondering how forceful I need to be about getting bloodwork right away and getting my dose adjusted if needed.  IT does not seem to be the prevalent thinking out there, but I know I read something about it here.

Thanks in advance

Hi Suz and welcome! Sorry that you had to wait for an answer! I think it's important to find a doctor that understands that you need to be monitored throughout your pregnancy. Its very important for the development of the baby and for your health! Here's a great article on the subject: http://www.thyroid-info.com/articles/pregnancy.htm

You can always print it and take it to your doc! Another option, too, is to look for a reproductive endo - I think that's what they're called. They're more experienced in dealing with different types of pregnancies, as it relates to hormones. Let us know what happens!! Cathy :)
