Thyroid Biopsy

My sister had thyroid cancer several years ago and it was suggested by my doctor that I have an ultrasound, even though thyroid cancer is not genetically linked. I have one nodule and one cyst, and must have a biopsy done on the 30th. Even though I have been through the whole ordeal with my sister and know an incredible amount (most are not cancer, it is curable, etc.), I am still finding myself scared and worried. I know all about the test and what to expect so that makes me uneasy but not really scared. I guess I am just in a holding pattern until the 30th and that is upsetting me, and I do not want to have to face a long process of "wait and see" nor do I want to face surgery. I am just all turned around about this. Any words of comfort, experiences, or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi and welcome - I think the waiting is the hardest part of all this. The procedures are never as bad as wondering how it's all going to go and how it's all going to turn out. So my thoughts and prayers are with you!! I know this all very difficult. Try not to dwell on it if you can. Find things that you enjoy .doing to take up your time so your mind isn't replaying the whole thing over and over. I know that's easier to say than do but worrying isn't going to add one thing to this experience!! Chances are, it's going to make it more difficult. And feel free to come here and rant if you want to, or freak out!! LOL! That's why we're here!!! I know this can't possibly help but I hope it does just a little bit. Hugs, Cathy :)
