Hello all. I'm somewhat new to the board(I have lurked a bit b4).I am so frustrated! Over the last year, I have had more problems with my thyroid than I care to want. I was put on thyroid meds about 3 years ago. At the time it was a low dose. Well last year I had more than 6 yeast infections and not once did my doc mention that it could have anything to do with my thyroid. I happened to do the research on WHY I was having all these infections and it turned out that maybe something other than "tight pants or sweaty pants after working out" was the culprit. When I went to my MD, they ordered blood tests. The thyroid was low. So for about 4 months I was taking more and more hormone to get it up. My last blood test was in Sept./Oct.. Well folks, I think I have a problem here. I haven't had a period since 11/22/05(I'm 36), I have been SO tired lately and I'm waking with numb fingers/hands in the morning. Has anyone else had the numbness thing? I remember this from last year, one of the other reasons why I went to MD to find out what was going on.
Well, on Monday I am going back for more blood testing. It just seems to be getting worse and worse. Any comments would be appreciated!

Hi Jolene,
Welcome to our board.
It's good you're getting checked again tomorrow.
Cally,
Hi again, do you mind the "hat"? It's such a pain to take it on and off if I'm searching Ivillage, ya know?
Thank you for responding to me. To my amazement, I have no recollection of where I put those results from my tests. I didn't always save them either. I realize now that I should have.
I felt SO much better after August. I was 60 days into higher meds. I have been feeling great up untill I had my last period and that lasted 14 days! Now I haven't had one since then and like said, tired all the time now and freezing, numbness upon awakening.
So you are hyperthyroid?

HI island,
HI
I'm pretty new to all this thyroid stuff. I was diagnosed in November. One of the symptoms I had besides the outrageous quick weight gain, was the numbness in my hands and feet.
Don't know anything about the loss of menstrual cycle as I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago.
Dana
Yes, I'm a hyper girl.
Hi Jolene - it sounds like there's more to it than just your thyroid to me. I'm not an expert by any means but I think something else is going on here. Have you had any other tests done, besides all the thyroid tests? Maybe an iron test, other hormones like estrogen,
Hi April,
Thank you so much for responding to me! I finally got the period! So far it seems normal I have an appt. for an ultrasound on Thursday, so we'll see if there's anything else going on.
What is PCOS? I'll search it. Thank you again!

Dana,
Thank you for your response. Well I haven't had the numbness in 2 weeks now. Maybe the meds are kicking finally. Thanks again!
