Hello! My name is Melissa and I am 29 years old. I was diagnosed with Hypothryoidism back in 2001 but I believe it probably started in my senior year of high school (1994) when I gained 60 pounds during the school year. My Mom told me I should get it tested (my Grandma and Aunt- both Maternal) also have hypothyroidism. Needless to say, I did not get it tested until Nov. 2001.
I have finally found the right dosage of Sinthroid (.15 mg) but I have never felt "better." I guess by that, I mean that I still am tired all the time and have no energy. Should I be feeling different if I am on the right dosage? In September 2003, the doctor thought we found the right dosage but the next test revealed my levels were still off so we had to increase the dosage again. I am wondering if that's what's happening now. I am having b/w next Thursday in preparation for my appt. with the Endocrinologist on Feb. 3rd, so I guess I will find out soon enough.
I am glad to have found this board though because I am not that educated about the disorder. I have been charting to try to become pregnant and my temps are low. I was told by someone who read my chart that the low temps mean that my levels may not be low enough for TTC.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Melissa

Hi mistletoe,
Hi Melissa,
Welcome!
It does sound as though you've had thyroid problems for a while.
Calley,
Thanks. The Endo goes by the numbers although I don't recall her asking about how I am feeling. My DH is in the Army so I had to get referred to the Endo (only this past June) and I have only seen the Endo's RN. I go every 3 months though.
I will post my new b/w results after I receive them on Feb. 3rd.
Thanks again!
Melissa
Hello. I am back. I saw my Endo last Friday. She had run the TSH, free T3 and T4 but I only know the results of the TSH (5.83). So, she increased my dosage from .125 to .137. I was hoping that she'd bump me to the .150 but we'll see how the .137 goes. I have been VERY tired lately too.
