TSH Levels & Doctor help?
| Tue, 01-24-2006 - 7:09pm |
Hello,
I went in for my Thyroid lab and my TSH is at 4.89 doesn't that seem high, considering at my doctor their labs are anywhere from .32-5.00, She lowered my dose of Armour seven weeks ago to 1.5 Grains, otherwise I had been on 2 Grains since 2003, and I felt so much better on the 2G. I have all the symptoms of Hypothyroid. I need to find a new doctor or better yet a thyroid specialist I been dealing with these thyroid problems since I was 8 years old, I'm 29 now, and I'm so sick of getting jerked around. Would any of you happen to know of any good doctors or specialists in Minnesota? What do you all think off that level? Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Akarott

Hi Akarott,
In my opinion, that TSH does seem a little high or very close to the hypo area.
The reason she lowered my medicine was because I couldn't sleep, but I have Fibromyalgia, so I take Topamax for that and she had me on the same dose for two years. I wanted her to raise my dose of that, but instead she went and lowered my Armour. My labs prior to this one I've been supressed for the last year and a half like my levels have been around, 0.04-0.15, but I feel best when I'm at a very low level like this anything over TSH over 1, and here come Hypo Symptoms, I read an article that alot of people do very well at a supressed level, or almost undetectable level, I hadn't felt like myself in years since I had my radioactive iodine for my thyroid, and when I found Armour in 2003 it was like a godsent, 2G at least I feel like I did before the RAI, like myself. Well now she won't switch it back to 2G because she let me stay supressed at them levels for so long, which I felt totally fine. I had no Hyperthyroid symptoms, and I would now dealing with it since I was 8, I just need to find a new doctor that will pay attention to how I feel , and not only what the labs say, and do what is best for me. I couldn't sleep because of issues with my Fibromyalgia by the way it had nothing to do with my thyroid. I'm just so upset I want to find a doctor who will let me stay on Armour Thyroid also because the other medcines just don't work as well for me, I have all the Hypo Symptoms for weeks now I told her that well now it's like talking to the wall. Oh what am I going to do, will I ever find a decent thyroid doctor? By the way if you want to see that article it is at www.altsupportthyroid.org under Tsh levels, under suppressed thyroid, it talks about all thyroid Tsh ranges.
Thanks,
Akarott
