Hi!...and small progress update

Hi all:

I've been away for a while... Got swept up in the crazy busy new year I seem to be having (mom-work-school-home-etc!)
I'm doing OK (75% I'd say) these days.

I had a little breakthrough with diet issues. I started a nutrition course and something I was reading prompted me to monitor my blood glucose for 3 days. I learned that I tend towards hypoglycemia; while I wake up with normal blood glucose (85), if I eat any sugar (including fruit) first thing in the morning, my blood glucose drops below 50 2 hours later (and I'm shakey, hungry, heart racing, etc...). According to the nutrition textbook, it might be a "reactive" form of hypoglycemia, resulting from overproducing insulin. Anyway, with some dietary changes I've been able to beat the energy loss in the afternoon and evening sugar cravings issues. I also no longer have the racing heartbeat in the evenings when I go to bed. And I've lost 4 pounds (not much considering the 30 I still have to lose, but I'll take ANY progress over NONE, right?)

I look forward to reading through some of your posts and getting caught up with how everyone is doing.

Take care,
Dee.

Four pounds is great! And it's great that you found something that's working for you. It may be four pounds now but it will be 10 pounds soon, then 12!! I'm glad that it's working on some of your other symptoms, too. I was just thinking about how much sugar I eat this morning. I think it's probably way too much than is good for me. Maybe one of these days, I'll try tracking it to see. Anyway ... I'm glad you're doing better!! Hugs, Cathy :)
