I have hypothroidism and am breaking out in night sweats and hives. My GP said it is probably because of the thyroid problem. Any one else have this problem?

I had this problem when I was having a reaction to ANTIthyroid meds.

With that said, it is common to have them with just thyroid troubles.

Hi:

I first had hives as I was coming down with Hashimoto's... then, later, I had them in response to synthetic T-4. I still take synthetic T-4, but now in combination with Armour. When I get hives now, I know it's time to get a TSH test and work with my dose.

I have a friend who was breaking out in night sweats and spoke with her endo, who referred her to the OBGYN because it was happening during PMS. The GYN prescribed HRT just 3 days/ month (PMS time) and it took care of the sweats...

There is a relationship between our thyroid hormones and female hormones (although it isn't clear what/how that connection is or what to do about it), but it's worth speaking to your GYN...

Good luck,
Dee.

I have definately had an increase in hives since I've been taking thyroid medication. I will get exercise induced hives and I also get pressure hives(say if I lean on something, I will get a big welty type hive)

My doctor doesn't seem to concerned, she said it was nothing to worry about unless it affects my breathing!
