Every thing is normal--now what??

I had a retest on Monday. All this time I thought they were testing everything but they were only doing TSH. The lab lady told me this time that if my TSH level was still high the lab order said to test the T4, T3 etc.

I called today and they said that my thyroid level was at normal, and they would send a copy of the results. That means they didn't test all the other stuff. :-(

It would have been nice to know. I feel ok on the dosage of levoxyl (only 50mcg)a little better than before I guess.

I'm really watching what I eat, eventhough I have almost unbearable carb cravings. I exercise 6 days a week, and drink about 80 oz of water a day and I'm still not losing, (not losing inches from the exercise either). Its like I can feel my self growing!!

Guess I'll call my Dr. and see if I can get in. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi:

That would be waaaay to high for me. When you see the doc, find out if she'll agree to let you keep increasing until the TSH is a 1 or a 2. If not, you might ask for an endocrinology referral.

Good luck!!!!!
Dee.

Have you had a glucose test done? Also my 4 year old's endocrinologist told me that when your thyroid is not functioning properly the extra fluid which is usually in your vascular system goes to your tissues...that is why some people have a rounder face or you can look puffy, even have a waxy look to your face or skin....hope this was helpful...

Is the glucose test the one where you drink the liquid and be tested every hour or so? If so I haven't. What are you thinking with this test?

Thanks for the info on the fluid retention. Never had a problem with it before.

I called to see if I could get in to see my Dr. this week, while I'm on vacation and she is on vacation.

Thanks

Actually I was thinking of a blood glucose level...just a blood draw, usually in am, or fasting...my thinking was that you have been having a problem losing weight, craving carbs, but you exercise 6 days a week and drink a tremendous amount of water (this is coming from someone who works with patients who are renal failure and I drink mostly diet coke...that is really pathetic..)...I was just wondering about the glucose test..no need for alarm...just a passing thought...I would like to know how long it takes for your body to get normal TSH levels once you start the synthroid...how long was it for you???Thanks...

My levels were considered subclinical when I was first dx(high but not that high) since I have Celiac's, Dr. said it needed to be treated, not the usual watch and see.

Here they are--the lab's normal range is 0.34-4.82

Nov.05--6.28(diagnosed)
Jan.06--5.42(after 3 weeks on 75mcg of Synthroid, then switched to 25mcg of levoxyl)
Mar.06--3.46(after 50mcg of levoxyl)

I feel better than when first dx but not great(I want to feel great!!)

My blood glucose level in November was 94 with 72-110 being lab normal.
I wasn't alarmed by your line of thinking, I welcome any new thoughts on what could be going on.
