I was diagnosed with hypthyroidism about a year ago. I am taking 125mg of synthroid. I recently started seeing a new doctor and she requested a full thyroid workup. The results were as follows:

TSH 0.61 (.40 - 5.50)
T4,FREE 1.5 (.8 - 1.8 )
Thyroid Peroxidase AB 94.3 (< or =35)
Thyroglobulin 70.8 (2.0 - 35)

As you can see I have very high antibodies. I went in to the doctor's office but I was seen but a different doctor who told me not to worry about the results. Is he right? Can I just ignore these results or should I be recieving some sort of treatment. It is very important that I have this straightened out because I am trying to have a baby.

Any advice?

Hi Jreeves628,

Welcome to our board.

I have hyperthyroidism so I'm not dealing with the hypo side but I think I would be concerned about the antibody level.

Hi:

I have hashimoto's and did see a reproductive endocrinologist. I would recommmend that you do given that you have hypothyroidism and are trying to conceive...

The good news is that your levels look really great and that means you're probably on a good dose of the right medication. I think an endocrinologist would give you a green light to go ahead and get started...

They can't do anything about the antibodies.... there is no treatment for the antibodies themselves. The only treatment is to balance the thyroid hormone. And of course to monitor your levels closely during pregnancy

Are you having symptoms?

If not... I'd say no worries...

Good luck,
Dee.
