Hi Everyone...well I think like the majority of us, I never thought I would be on this board...and at 24 at that, ugh. Anyways...here is my situation...about 2 months ago I noticed my sickly thick (and very shedding on normal) hair was falling out in CLUMPS. Actually my DH noticed it first just from cleaning the bathroom floor. I didn't really think anything of it because I shed a ton normally and I thought it could be a delay in pergnancy hormones since I had at the time a 8 month old. By about 2-3 weeks of serious shedding non stop to where I could feel a difference in thickness (my hair went from not drying in 24 hours to drying in 10 mins so I was def. loosing A LOT and fast. My PCP ran the TSH-3rd generation and T4 FREE. My results they said were normal and I was then sent to the dermo. My #s were TSH .70 of the range .47-4.68. BTW I did NOT fast for this test. Okay so I go to the dermo and she asked about the thyroid...ran TONS of tests and even did the TSH again just to make sure. Well 7 days later my TSH is now .38 LOW in the same range???? This test I did fast for. She is scratching her head as am I. I have NO symptoms what so ever other then excessive hair loss. I am getting into the endo this thursday. So what do you guys think??? Is it normal for the numbers to change so quickly and could the fasting give me a false positive? I have read on the net that they don't know why but they have found that fasting dose cause wrong results in some patients? I wish I had one other inkling of a symptom to where I would think yes it is thyroid but all I have is half a head full or hair and numerous questions. Please help me with any information you may have. I just made a trip to GNC for TONS of vitamins I have read should help in hair loss, since that is my only problem now and it's a big one, I am trying to combat that one on my own. Thanks in advance for any info. PS. anyone think the hair loss could be related to having 3 babies in less then 4 years?? My grandma thinks it could be that. I pray it is so :-(

Hi i_luv, welcome!
Hi i_luv_my2girls,
Welcome to our board.
I don't know if your hair loss is due to the thyroid or something else but as April mentioned, the levels can fluctuate.
Hi again,
