My test result
6
Thu, 07-06-2006 - 6:34pm

I mentioned that I was waiting for the result of T3 and T4. I went to see my primary care doctor today.

TSH 5.53 (0.45-4.70)
T4 Free 1.20 (0.78-2.20)
T3 Free 1.65 (2.0-3.5)

T3 and T4 are normal, except TSH, which is above normal. He explained to me that the thyroid hormone was very low, so TSH was high. He said that nothing wrong with thyroid gland because T3 and T4 are normal. However, the risk to develope underactive thyroid is high when I reach to the middle age. That what he told me today. I wonder why I didn't have obvious sign of underactive thyroid. Now, I know.

I think I mentioned that I didn't have very obvious sign of underactive thyroid. I know I have been putting on weight. I have dry skin and brittle nail. Lossing some hair. I really don't have any other symptoms.

Those are all symptoms of underactive thyroid. Some people with a TSH of 500 might only have 1 symptom. Someone with a TSH of 5 might have several symptoms. It doesn't matter.
