I had my biopsy...What do you think?

I went in on Thursday morning to have the biopsy on 2 thyroid nodules done... I was really nervous the day before, but when the time came, I was so anxious to get it over with! It was done at the hospital...He gave me two anesthetic shots, which really felt like bee stings...and he went ahead with the FNA. It wasn't painful, but was really uncomfortable. I think he must have touched a nerve because at one point, I felt a lot of pain in my upper jaw, which was really weird. Thankfully it was over fast. It was tough having it done on both sides...I think it would have been a bit more bearable if I only had to have it done on one side!
Anyway, he told me that the nodule on the right side was just a fluid filled cyst and he drained it. He said that it disappeared on the u/s. The one on the left side was a bit more complicated. He described it as "hemorragic", which I guess means it was bleeding a lot. He said that both nodules looked benign to him...but we are waiting for the lab results. Our appt. is tomorrow morning.
The technicians who were there with me told me that this doctor was the best at the hospital... I was feeling really positive about everything until this morning--when I woke up re-thinking everything and worried that it may be cancerous.
Have any of you ever been told it looked benign, only to get the results back and find that the doctor was wrong? I keep thinking that if he had any doubt, he probably wouldn't have said that....but he also told me at the beginning of the procedure that the only way to really tell is to have the cells looked at in a lab.
Thank goodness we go tomorrow and I don't have to wait much longer to find out...but today will be tough!
Anyway, afterward, I was in a lot of discomfort...kept ice on my neck all day. My neck is still a bit sore. I feel it when I cough, sneeze, laugh, or turn my head suddenly. It's gotten better each day, but I can still feel it.
I'll keep you updated!
Claudia

Claudia,
Keep us updated. I think one of the best tests before any surgery if it turns out that way is the fnb. I had one nodule which didn't show any ca cells at all, but it turned out that they went in anyway because things looked inconclusive to them and they couldn't figure it out, and yes, it did turn out to be ca cells. Look at it in a positive way, it is good that they have these tests, can take care of the problem if there is one there; if not a problem they will probably still want to keep an eye on you which is well in your favor. Try to think positive no matter what the outcome is--I don't understand why one nodule was bleeding and maybe he will explain that to you.
Wishing you the best, hugs and prayers, Bea
Hi Claudia,
I was thinking about Bea (daggs170) and her situation when I read yours.
