Can a thyroidectomy lessen allergies?

I just had a total thyroidectomy last week due to dysphagia and pain related to a rapidly-growing goiter caused by severe Hashimotos that I've suffered with for 11 years, as well as an inconclusive biopsy for thyroid lymphoma. Although I am only 7 days out of surgery, I can honestly say that my life as I knew it has been "restored" by all of the wonderful medical professionals whose care I have been under for the past 4 months.
All of my aches, pains, highs and lows have vanished since that sickly organ was removed. The minor discomfort I am experiencing swallowing and around the incision site is NOTHING compared to the severe tendonitis, carpel tunnel, neck pain, breathing problems, thinning hair, heart palpitations, memory loss, etc.,etc. that I was experiencing just 8 short days ago. I truly feel like my life has been given back to me.
Anyway, before I really get into a sentimental tirade, I did notice one of the many benefits of this surgery is that my sinusitis and asthma, which required daily treatment before surgery, is currently non-existent. Although I haven't taken Allegra or used my inhaler for over a week, all I am experiencing is a minor sniffle instead of the severe congestion I normally experienced when I didn't medicate prior to surgery. This is especially baffling because the summer was typically my worst season for allergies.
Does anyone know if there is any link between Hashimotos, allergies, and asthma? Have any other thyroidectomy patients experienced this same wonderful health benefit?
Just curious.

Hi Octorora,
That's wonderful to hear that you are doing so well after your surgery.
