Synthroid and Pregnancy

I am wondering if someone can answer a question for me.
I have had an overactive thyroid for a few years now. I tested positive for antibodies but my endocrinologist didn't specify which one(s) and I didn't know enough to ask. NOW, my thyroid seems to have "quit" and I've been on Synthroid for about 6 weeks. My levels will be drawn day-after-tomorrow to see how the Synthroid is working.
I will be TTC in about 9 months (assuming that my levels are finally where they should be). I've heard that when you become pregnant your Synthroid dosage often needs to be raised. My question is....at what point in the pregnancy does this usually happen? The very beginning? Or later on when the baby gets bigger? How often should my levels be drawn? Every 6 weeks? I've already m/c one baby. I CAN'T do it again! Please help!
Jenny

I get checked every four weeks while I am pregnant.
