I am currently 11+ weeks pregnant.  I have had 4 m/c's which I believe my thyroid problems have contributed to.  I got my prenatal blood work back today & my thyroid levels are extremely high.  Apparently they were high at my last appt, but they neglected to tell me how high.  They are coming down, but they are still so high.  My TSH was 9.6 three weeks ago & was 7.015 this past week.  I get a recheck in 10 days, but I am scared that this is going to effect the baby.

Hi Melissa,

With all those miscarriages, I can certainly see why you are so concerned.

I am very sorry about your losses and congrats on your current pregnancy, I hope everything goes well. If you are not currently working with an endocrinologist I would look into that. I recently suffered a miscarriage that was believed to be possibly related to Graves Disease (hyperthyroid). I knew that I had Graves but had resisted treatment and was not seeing an endo, how of course I am, as I want to ttc again asap. I will probably be having surgery first and then have to take meds for thyroid replacement. My endocrinologist told me that as soon as I learned I was pregnant again to call him right away. He said that he would be monitoring me during my next pregnancy and that he believed that as long as my medication was properly monitored, I should have a normal pregnancy. But if they don't monitor closely, you do have more risks, so I was told. Good luck!
