For those that have recently had RAI (radioactive iodine treatment) or will in the future, the effects of it can trigger airline security devices for quite a few weeks after the treatment. According to an article I just read, a patient with RAI treatment may activate these devices for up to 95 days after having the RAI. The article recommended that anyone getting RAI should be sure to get a card from their doctor explaining that they have had a radioactive procedure.
