My primary dr. suggested the iodine treatment (hyperthyroidism) since I've been on Tapazole and Atenolol since last October. I started to get better, but within the past few months I've only gotten worse. Thyroid levels are within normal range, but my palpitations are horrible. He said that he's going to discuss this with the endo that I had been seeing recently. I spoke with a few people who suggested surgery may be the better choice. Basically, I'm trying to get as many opinions as I can. I'm so tired of feeling like this. TIA.

Hi Lindsay,
That's a hard decision to make but it does look as though you've reached the point where you do need to choose one or the other since the meds aren't working well enough.
As someone who has had surgery (right lobe removed) and not RAI, I probably would go the surgery route but you definitely want to make sure your surgeon has done many of these procedures and does them on a regular basis now.
