Question about Thyroid Ablation??

Has anyone had it done? I am scheduled to take the pill on October 17, just wondering if anyone had any side effects from it. I have graves disease, was diagnosed 5 years ago, have never had a normal thyorid level since I was diagnosed. My Endocrinologist thinks this is the best way to go, considering my lack of ability to control, and my extremely active lifestyle ( I have six kids ranging in age from 16 to 3 year old twins), thinks it will be better in the long run. I will not even consider surgery, especially when there's a pill I can take to kill it.

Hi there,
I don't have the eye bulging, never have. My Doc has me on Tapazole, four weeks, then one week off, then the pill, then one week off then the Tapazole for another month. I am assuming that this is to combat the spilling of the hormones back into my system. I have every other symptom but the eye problems, and they are pretty severe. My resting heart rate was as high as 128bpm when I was diagnosed. The fatigue nearly kills me, and I don't have time to be tired with six kids. The tremors have been so bad I cant hardly drink a glass of water, I just hate this disease all together.
I just can't see doing surgery, I just can't afford to be out that long. My kiddo's need me too much. As it is, they will be staying with my parents 25 miles away for a week after I take the pill, my oldest daughter is pregnant and they twins won't understand about why they cant touch mommy, so it is best for them to be away from me. And I know all about the eating, sleeping etc., that is why my kids are staying away for a week.
As for the hypothyroid, I know all about that one too, my mom, my grandmother, both of my mom's sisters, and my own sister are all hypothyroid. I know the symptoms, know the meds, and the routine seems alot simpler to me, I don't plan on having any more children (my tubes are tied), so I'm not too worried about the radiation. I have a first cousin who has (or had) Graves also, her ablation was done immediately after she was diagnosed, and she hasn't had any problems. I just think this is the best for me.
If you feel its best then do it.
Hi,
