Hello everyone,
In August I went for my yearly gyno check. My doctor has seen me almost every 6 months for the last two years due to birthcontrol pill issues. When he walked in, he looked at me and said: "Your neck is bigger than last time. You need to have that checked." I got paranoid, since my sister had papillary carcinoma of the thyroid (her thyroid was removed). I admit I had had warning signs for a while: constipation, irritability, dry skin, feeling very tired all the time. Whenever I would get sick I would just go to whatever clinic was open, dues to my work schedule. I decided to take control of my health, so two weeks ago I finally chose a primary care physician. He felt my thyroid and noted the right side was enlarged, and he felt nodules. So he sent me for blood work and an ultrasound of the thyroid. The ultrasound showed two cysts on the left side and an inflamed right side. During my follow up visit yesterday he put me on Levoxyl 25 mcg and next week I go up to 50 mcg. I forgot to ask what my levels were. I am really hoping this medicine helps me feel better, I am so tired of feeling, well, tired! I have to go for more bloodwork on Monday (DHEA test and a 5 hour glucose test).
I am glad I found this board! I knew ivillage would have something here for people like me. My husband does not like to talk about illness, so I am happy to have found a source of support.

Keep up with your doctor though - because I too have been feeling rotton but finially just got up the whatever it was to call and complain- and I'll be darned they told me they had another pill that would help - that it happens alot when people get really hypo they have troble getting to normal and this other pill can help speed that process up- of course I have been feeling horrible for over two weeks but afraid to call thinking that I'm a complainer not giving the meds time to work.
Hi Jessie,
Welcome and I'm glad you found us too!
Your doctor was "on the ball" as he noticed your enlarged neck.
