Thyroid biopsy...
| Mon, 01-29-2007 - 8:29pm |
Hi! I was on here last week because my doc thought I had hypothyroidism. It turns out that I don't. I went for an ultrasound on my neck on Friday and I spoke to my doctor today and he says I have a nodule and he wants me to have a biopsy. He also referred me to an ear, nose, throat doctor. Does anyone know why he might have done this? The ear, nose, throat doc's receptionist said the only reason would probably be if I were to have surgery. Is my primary doc basically saying he thinks my thyroid needs to come out? How likely do you think that it's cancer? I'm 30 with no history of thyroid cancer in my family. I do have a fam history of hypothyroidism and benign nodules.
Thanks.

Thanks.

The stats show that 95% of all nodules are benign.

Thanks for the reply!
Hi Dawn,
I'm guessing that your primary care doctor wants to get the opinion of the ENT specialist.
The biopsy is just the common next step. They are just gathering all info so that they can treat u. Let us know when and how the biop goes. Good Luck!

You know, I knew I'd be going to the doctor more often and getting blood taken this year but I thought it would be because I was pregnant. I never in a million years thought I'd be doing all this. I just keep thinking that I'm only 30 years old and I have a 2 year old son and why should I have to go thru this. I just feel so lost and uneducated with all of this.
Thanks for the info and support.
