my doctor had me on a low dose of synthryoid, i am overweight - and have always had a hard time being regular on my periods - i have also been dx with PCOS -
when i first started taking SYnthroid a couple of months ago, i got my period for over 7 days, and then i was fine getting it every 28 days. then the dr. said that my blood results were improving my thyorid slowly which he said is good, he did increase my dosage. now i got a period for a day, last week, and then i got it again for a day yesterday. this is so uncommon for me.
has anyone else had this problem, is it because my body is just trying to get normal? is it because i am 41?
i am going back again next week to get my blood work again, but just curious, i am frustrated that i am not getting a normal period. i would love to get PG, and can't when its acting like this.
any one with this experience would help alot
thank you

I actually just called my doctor this morning about my periods. Unlike you, I have always been very regular. I started taking Synthroid 3 months ago. Since then my periods have been a mess! The first month it was a week late -that's never happened. It came back 2 weeks later and lasted a few days, then a week later it lasted a day, then three weeks later I got it, now it's a week late again. It's driving me crazy.
My Doctor told me that this is actually very normal as Thyroid controls all of the hormones in our bodies, and until things are stabilized and meds are regulated it probably won't stop.
Hope this helps put your mind at ease a bit!
actually - i thought that maybe what i got was implantation bleeding - because it wasn't acutally a period, it was just one big gush - and then nothing after that - i was like that was weird - at first i thought maybe it was a sign that i o'd, but then i thought it was implantation - i have heard of this before when someone gets pg.
but then yesterday it was like a period - it started in the middle of the night and by the end of the day, there is nothing, and today nothing.
so then i thought it must be the thyroid, i guess i could take a pg test to ease my mind.
but yes i have heard of women who didn't know they were pg because they kept getting their periods, i don't have any other symptons of being pg though.
