Natural vs Synthetic side effects

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism a few years ago. I have been taking Levoxyl since then and have been adjusting he levels based on the blood test results. Recently I began having joint pain. My dr said it is Bursitis. But why am I now getting bursitis. Is it the Levoxyl? I have searched the net and see "natural supplements" touted such as Thyromine. But they scare me because they are not usually FDA approv ed. Should I be worried that the bursitis is related to Levoxyl? Does anyone else have this side effect?

Also I have never been seen by an endocrinologist.. should I be?? Could there be something more going on with me?

I will say that the levoxyl has helped me with the energy level and my attitude is back to positive.. I had always been a positive person and do feel more like myself now. But I am worried that I am hurting my body through medicinal side effects I did not expect.

Hi bluiz10,

As I understand it, joint or muscle pain can be a symptom of a thyroid disorder so it may be possible your pain is coming from that.

Just wanted to mention that my grandmother was diagnosed with Bruscitis and was told that she was going to need painful injections to treat it. Well her sister encouraged her to go to a chiropractor and she did and the "bruscitis" ended up being a pinched nerve in her back and after 5 treatments at the chiro she is fine and the pain is gone now for about 20 years already. She also doesn't go to the chiro anymore.

Just wanted to throw that out there just in case :)
