I had a Thyroidectomy three years ago. Curretnly on 175mcg of Levothyroxine. I have pain, dry skin just have not feel the same since the surgery. Numbness at night in arms, menstrual cycle has been off for a year. I am only 35 and I feel like I am 80. I work outside the home, very involved mother I just wish I could get rid of this pain!

Hi gladtobemommyofboys,

Welcome to our board.

From your symptoms it sounds as though your thyroid levels are not at a good place for you.

Hi gladtobemommyofboys,

I had a total thyroidectomy a year ago (1/2 and then other 1/2 two months later). A year later, my skin is dry, dry and my body feels sore sometimes. I am on 200 mcg of synthyroid. I had always put the soreness down to the fact that I hit 40 last year. My cycle hasn't been regular since I can't remember. I'm telling you this so that you know that you're not alone. This is a great site because you'll read about other women who have experienced or are experiencing what you are going through and you'll know that it's not just you.

I'm going to my endo at the end of this month and will talk to her about my symptoms. Do you have an endo? If so, can you get an appt with them to talk to them about this? Your thryoid hormone levels may have also changed as well. Even if your levels are within normal range, still tell your endo about how you're feeling. I plan to and I won't accept that this is how I'm going to feel for the rest of my life, and neither should you....

Please let us know what happens. I will let you all know.........

It has been 3 1/2 yrs since total thyroidectomy. I have good days and bad days, I do not remember having so many different physical symptoms prior to the removal. I stay really busy, I do not lie around it would only make it worse. Does anybody have pain burning tingling in their extremities (arms and upper back) my levels were great up until last April my periods are still off I saw my Gyno. this week he drew TSH, T3 and T4 so hopefully all will be good. I just do not know if its pre menopause or thyroid related. I do not want to be pre menapausal yet contemplating a pregnancy next year will be 36 in Dec so I am trying to get things regulated. Have been tested FSH great no reason for no periods I just wonder if its hormonal I would like to have another baby and I thought I had some time left. My other are 2 boys 8 and 6, would like to have a girl!!!
