Hoping someone may be able to share some advice or help?
I am a 29 year old female with a swollen lymph node (I think) in the right of my throat. When I open my mouth, I see it. About the size of a grape or a little smaller, with Barely any pain if any. Only really feels funny when I swallow food.
My medical history....
I was diagnosed with Epstien Barr Virus (EBV) at a young age...
That is the only major thing I know of.
I went to my doc for a full physical about a month ago. They did general labs which everything came back normal as far as I know. I went because I was feeling tired, and kind of achy, and had been feeling that way for quite a little while now. I also explained to him that I did work a full-time job, and a part-time job (very part-time) and also go to school, and do not get a lot of sleep-maybe 5-6 hours a night in general, and that could explain my fatigue...BUT, I know I dont feel like I used to.
I had also started having this "tight" feeling in my throat.
And I have to clear my throat a lot, like there is flem there. Then a little over a week ago I was swallowing some food and felt it hit something. I looked and there was the swollen gland or node or whatever on the right side back there.
I went back to the doc, and he really almost just dismissed me. I asked him if he thought it could be cancer, he just said, no, he did not think so. He did a strep test, and it was negative. Which I figured because I have NO PAIN...I told him there was hardly any pain if any.
Uncomfortable swallowing would be more like it.
Anyway, he pretty much talked really fast, something about pharyngitis, and gave me amoxicilin, and sent me home. When I looked up to see what pharyngitis was (since he explained NOTHING) I was surprised to see it was sore throat....MY throat is NOT SORE!
Sooooo, Now I am worried. I have taken my meds for like 4 days now, the swelling is still there.
Every time I do a search on the net my symptoms come up with like cancer or aids!
Now I am really freaked out!
I have been married for 7 years, BUT, we seperated about 4 years ago for a year and a half, not thinking we were going to get back together, and we both had other sexual partners. Unprotected...
Not many on my end, nor his so he says....but really, for some reason I just never thought anything about HIV, until now. I guess since I was not overly active during my seperation, I just never thought about being tested.

Now, I am wondering what should be my next move?
what should I be worried about next?
what do I need to do?
What does it sound like I have????

I read up on mono due to my epstien barr, but it says something about a severe sore throat as well as some symptoms I have, but my throat just is not sore...

What do I do next??

Thanks!!

I was also diagnosed with Epstein Barr in my 20's. I also have family history of hypothyroidism, so I have had my doc checking my thyroid function annually for the past few years. Had my annual a couple of weeks ago, and voila, my thyroid is now on the fritz and I have developed high blood pressure as well (with family history, also). So to me, the high BP and thyroid have both happened in the past year but I was just diagnosed recently with both. I went through 3 BP meds in about a month's time and finally asked to be put on the med that both my mother and grandmother are on and it is working fine. Just had the additional thyroid tests today to I am waiting for results and hoping to get on meds soon so I can start to feel better. My exhaustion is incredible and I am finding that the past couple of days I have also developed a sore throat (neck?) on the left side. I am also having the eye tics, etc. that I have read to be associated with thyroid. Are the EB diagnosis in my 20's, the family history of thyroid problems and now my low thyroid that has hit at age 41 connected? I don't have the answer to that one, but that is what I am living right now, also.
