Since December I've been on Synthroid (137mcg) after the first 4 weeks they bumped me up from 125mcg to 137mcg since I was having great difficulty functioning.I'm presently waiting my tsh t3, t4 results. Though I feel sooo much better than I did, how do you know when your just tired and not your levels? For example, I read somewhere you shouldn't take your synthroid before your blood work as this will give a false reading. So yesterday morning I skipped my usual 6:45am pill had my blood taken at 9am (after waiting forever at the lab) ate some breakfast and then I needed to wait minimum of 2 hours to take the pill so it would digest. Needless to say I was exhausted by 4pm. Not as bad as pre-synthroid but something I hadn't felt in a few weeks. Is it possible that my levels were off after waiting 6 hours longer to take my meds??? Just curious! Let me know if anyone else has had this expierence.

When you take your thyroid medication, do you wait at least 30 minutes to an hour before you eat? If I don't take my thyroid medication close to the same time everyday I can tell. I get tired, I tend to be more forgetful that day and my mood is different. I actually didn't take my thyroid condition serious in the beginning. I would take it and then not take it. I went a year without it. During that time I did some things and acted out of control. I have a greater respect for what that little pill does for me everyday. I have a 15 year old son that has hypothyroidism and he was diagnosed at birth.
I would make sure you take your thyroid medication every day as close to the same time, do not eat 30 minutes to an hour after you take the pill, for several weeks and if you are still feel tired then I would talk to your doctor about checking your levels.
Yes your levels would be off after not taking your medication for that long, very much so.
I have been hypothyroidism for years so if I can help you at all please feel free to ask.
